People's Thoughts on Chapel: Research Project

Key Visuals

Project Highlights:

What We Did:

  • Surveyed 105 students from different backgrounds, including athletes, to get diverse opinions.
  • Analyzed the impact of chapel on students’ mental well-being, spiritual growth, and even enrollment decisions.
  • Benchmarked Harding’s chapel policies against similar universities to provide actionable insights.

What We Found:

  • 75% of students wanted changes, like reducing sessions to 3–4 times a week or allowing more flexibility.
  • Over 78% said strict policies impacted enrollment decisions.
  • Many students felt chapel didn’t meaningfully enhance their spiritual connection or peace of mind.

What We Recommended:

  • Shift chapel to later in the morning or early afternoon for better attendance.
  • Reduce mandatory sessions while focusing on engaging speakers and relevant content.
  • Allow more flexibility to improve satisfaction and reduce stress.

  • Analyzed data and trends to develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Researched similar policies at other universities to add depth to our findings.
  • Presented our findings and solutions in a professional, impactful way.

Skills Demonstrated:
